Looking after fine art prints

Fine art giclée prints, made with pigment inks on special paper, have a long expected fade-free life; my limited edition prints will last for up to 100 years or more if properly cared for.

Start by not handling your print unecessarily, and then only holding it by the edges and preferably wearing cotton gloves. Don't stick anything to it, nor write on it, nor mark it in any way.

Take your print as soon as possible to a professional, bespoke picture framer who works to conservation standards. Ask your framer to use only acid free materials – mounting board, backing board, adhesives and tapes. You should consider using the more expensive UV resistant, conservation grade glass. Having invested in a quality image, why risk damaging or losing it?

You are advised not to hang these prints – or indeed any fine art – in direct sunlight or on walls facing strong daylight. Do not illuminate them with strong halogen or spot lamps. Since heat can also affect them, keep any light source at least a foot - 30 cms - away. Similarly avoid hanging over radiators or fires. Do not let prints get wet, or even humid for instance in kitchens or bathrooms.
